In order to effectively avoid metal thefts to merely shift from one sector to another and/or from one country to another legal measures must come into force which would effectively dissuade perpetrators from this sort of crime in the European Union in general. EIM therefore repeats its call for a legislative initiative of the European Commission to solve the issue.
