Cross Acceptance Processes in the European Railway Network

EIM consider it as an important topic for achieving the benefits of interoperability and generating growth of the European railway network. This position paper reflects, and brings to the attention of the European Railway Agency (ERA) and EC, the view of EIM on the roles and responsibilities of infrastructure managers (IMs) in the various processes linked to vehicle authorisation and operation. The position paper also proposes further harmonisation topics which would greatly facilitate the efficient acceptance process and use of rolling stock across the EU.

Boosting International Rail Freight – Sector Statement on Rail Freight Corridors

The Rail Freight Corridors commit to act as service providers for the European economy, and to offer solutions for efficient and environmentally-friendly logistics across Europe. In accordance with Regulation 913/2010 establishing the corridors, the first six rail freight corridors were established in November 2013, followed by the remaining three in November 2015. All nine rail freight corridors are now operational. The focus of the work on corridors today has evolved from the initial phase of setting-up the corridors to identifying and executing important measures needed to improve the operational performance of its customers.

Rail Freight Corridors: Creating Harmonised Approaches and Unified Services for the Customer

The European Commission has submitted a report on the application of the Regulation (EU) 913/2010 to the European Parliament and the Council by 10 November 2015 , and is considering a revision of the Regulation in 2017, taking into consideration the results of the reports presented by the Executive Boards of the so far operational corridors every two years . Supported by CER, (Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies), and EIM (European Rail Infrastructure Managers), we, the Railway Undertakings (RUs), the Rail Freight Corridors (RFCs) and their related Infrastructure Managers (IMs) and Allocation Bodies (ABs), would like to give some food for thought based on our experiences at an early stage of the discussion.

Metal Theft – European Rail Infrastructure Managers call upon the European Commission to take action

In order to effectively avoid metal thefts to merely shift from one sector to another and/or from one country to another legal measures must come into force which would effectively dissuade perpetrators from this sort of crime in the European Union in general. EIM therefore repeats its call for a legislative initiative of the European Commission to solve the issue.

Sustainable Urban Mobility – Main Elements and Recommendations on the basis of the European Parliament draft report

This Position Paper expresses EIM’s stance on the draft report and the amendments to this report. It also aims to highlight the role that rail infrastructure is currently playing in urban mobility policies and its potentiality in the future, notably with regards to freight urban transport. Furthermore, the Paper points out the importance of a multimodal approach for urban transport.
