The 2015 edition of the Rail Freight Day took place on Friday 4th December in Vienna. Organised by the European Commission (DG MOVE), the event brought together more than one hundred delegates among stakeholders and actors from the rail sector to discuss the most compelling issues for rail freight in Europe.

Today, the General Assembly of EIM unanimously elected Antti Vehvilaïnen, CEO of the Finnish Transport Agency, as EIM President for a 1 year mandate. EIM’s General Assembly also elected a new Vice-President, Lena Erixon, Director-General of Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration.

PRIME, the European Platform of Rail Infrastructure Managers in Europe, elects Alain Quinet as industry co-chair and welcomes ÖBB Infrastruktur AG as a new member.

EIM actively joined the 4th Japan-EU Industrial Railway Dialogue which took place on 10th November 2015 in Tokyo, Japan.

On Tuesday 10th November 2015, the European Parliament’s Transport and Tourism (TRAN) Committee will vote on its own-initiative report on “Sustainable Urban Mobility’’. EIM welcomes the prospective adoption of the report that aims to make urban mobility – including freight – more sustainable, affordable and safe. EIM highlights the importance of putting in place an urban mobility framework capable of delivering high-quality mobility services to people in their day-to-day lives.

EIM would like to welcome the new Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), Mr. Henrik Hololei.

To mark European Mobility Week 2015, more than a hundred European politicians, decision-makers and experts met in Brussels, at the initiative of the IRU coordinated European Citizens Mobility Forum (ECMF)

Later this year station inspectors will receive a possibility to use a modern simulator of railway traffic control and connectivity devices. It is another effect of the work of the PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., which will improve safety on railways.
