Jernbaneverket, ProRail and EIM welcome the endorsement by the Ministries of the ‘’Declaration of Rail Freight Corridors’’ at the TEN-T Days 2016, and express their support for the sector’s statement therein attached.

Today the rail sector and its customers, represented by CER, CLECAT, EIM, ERFA, ERTMS Users Group, ESC, UIP, UIRR, and UNIFE, and supported by the Rail Freight Corridors, presented a declaration at the TEN-T Days in Rotterdam, committing themselves to the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of the Rail Freight Corridors for the benefit of all customers, and to improving the quality, reliability and efficiency of transporting goods by rail across Europe.

On Wednesday 20th July 2016, the European Commission published its Communication ‘’A European strategy for low-emission mobility’’, outlining its future masterplan on the decarbonisation of transport.

Today, the General Assembly of EIM unanimously re-elected Lena Erixon, Director-General of Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration as EIM Vice-President for a 1 year mandate. The General Assembly also approved the application for membership of High Speed 2 Ltd (HS2).

Today, 28th April 2016, the European Parliament in mini-plenary approved the Technical Pillar of the Fourth Railway Package, following the previous agreement reached with the Council.

Yesterday, the European Parliament, the Council of the EU and the European Commission achieved an important step towards the establishment of the Single European Rail Area by successfully concluding the discussions on the so-called Market Pillar of the Fourth Railway Package. EIM congratulates the EU institutions for the work done in the trilogue negotiations.

Two international corridors dedicated to provide the efficient railway freight transport were launched during the opening meeting in Poland, which occurred on 11 November 2015.

The 2015 edition of the Rail Freight Day took place on Friday 4th December in Vienna. Organised by the European Commission (DG MOVE), the event brought together more than one hundred delegates among stakeholders and actors from the rail sector to discuss the most compelling issues for rail freight in Europe.

Today, the General Assembly of EIM unanimously elected Antti Vehvilaïnen, CEO of the Finnish Transport Agency, as EIM President for a 1 year mandate. EIM’s General Assembly also elected a new Vice-President, Lena Erixon, Director-General of Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration.
