Today, the EIM Technical Steering Group (TSG) elected a new Chair, Urszula Maszkiewicz from the Development and Technical Standardisation Department of the Polish rail Infrastructure Manager PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. (PLK). Urszula Maszkiewicz will succeed to EIM’s long-term TSG chair, Prof Andy Doherty of Network Rail.
EIM Executive Director Monika Heiming stated: “I highly welcome the appointment of Urszula Maszkiewicz by the TSG today. The technical expertise in general and the work of the TSG in particular will raise in importance, due to accelerated innovation, reforms and changes. In this sense, the commitment of PLK to further leverage the role and interests of the rail infrastructure managers is essential. EIM and TSG also pay tribute to the outgoing TSG chair, Prof Andy Doherty, for his long-term and high-level commitment to EIM, the rail sector and rail innovation.”
Urszula Maszkiewicz stated: “I thank the members of the Technical Steering Group for their confidence and support. I am very much looking forward in working in a constructive and cooperative manner with all members of the TSG and in particular with the two Vice Chairs of the TSG, Francisco Contreras of ADIF (Spain) and Jean-Marc Pourchier of SNCF Réseau (France). The new EU Commission will bring by further changes for the rail infrastructure manager and I am keen in promoting its role and interests on a higher level.”
The TSG coordinates the contribution of the members in the technical field, to the European Union Agency for Railways and its working parties. The TSG also provides strategic input to EIM on specific technical matters. The TSG has one chair and two vice-chairs. It meets five times a year.
