Within the framework of 2021 EU Year of Rail, EIM invites you to continue discovering the SNCF Réseau programme for a “High performance network”, the modernisation plan for a smarter rail network offering more capacity and reliability to rail customers.
In this 5th and last video, SNCF Réseau unveils how it organises the training of its operators on the new technologies, systems and traffic management tools.
The management of the European Railway Traffic Management system (ERTMS), the modernization of the system of Operational Management of Train Circulation and the new Network Control Centres (see previous videos) are all the new tools that integrate the latest digital technologies. They are all components of the SNCF Réseau effort to constantly improve its rail network and increase the quality of the service to its customers. However, the shift to the current systems to new ones must be planned carefully to avoid disruptions in the operations and keep the same level of efficiency and security standards. Therefore, training to staff become essential.
SNCF Réseau organises trainings for its operators using the most advanced technologies to help them to acquire efficiently these new skills, for instance by using a number of simulators of signal boxes, computer stations and train driver’s cabins. The trainings on the new systems is organised with a gradual approach and the implementation of the new features and the associated data is made over time. This makes easier for the operators to successfully manage the change while getting the know-how on the new tools.
Thanks to its “High performance network” programme and the deployment of new digital systems and technologies, SNCF Réseau is definitely engaged in the modernization of the French rail network. Innovative projects, along newly skilled operators, will allow SNCF Réseau to continue providing high-quality services to its customers and rail passengers.
