Today, the Extraordinary General Assembly of EIM unanimously elected as its President Miguel Cruz, CEO of the Portuguese Infrastructure Manager Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).
This Extraordinary General Assembly of EIM also unanimously elected two new Vice-Presidents, Piotr Wyborski, CEO of the Polish Infrastructure Manager PKP PLK and Alain Quinet, Executive Director, Strategy & Corporate Affairs of the French Infrastructure Manager SNCF Réseau.
John Voppen, CEO of ProRail and interim President of EIM stated: “I highly welcome the appointment of Miguel Cruz as the President-elect of EIM and of Piotr Wyborski and Alain Quinet as Vice-Presidents of EIM. We are very much looking forward to working with them and all other members of EIM. Their leadership comes at a pivotal time for the European single railway area. I am confident we will tackle these challenges together and drive the sector forward.”
Miguel Cruz stated: “I thank all members of EIM for their trust and support. I am very honoured to chair EIM and to succeed the former President-elect Maria Luisa Dominguez Gonzalez, and the interim President John Voppen. Close collaboration with infrastructure managers will be essential to achieving Europe’s ambitions, particularly in resilience, innovation, and financial sustainability. Securing adequate support will be vital to strengthening Europe’s rail network for citizens and enterprises.”
Piotr Wyborski stated: “I thank the members of EIM for their confidence in electing me as Vice-President. It is a privilege to contribute to the development of a stronger European rail network. I am committed to supporting all efforts that will enhance the resilience and efficiency of rail infrastructure managers and the sector as a whole. Advancing priorities like completing the TEN-T network, strengthening Military Mobility, and modernising infrastructure will be key to this goal.”
Alain Quinet stated: “I sincerely thank all EIM members for their renewed confidence. I look forward to continuing our joint efforts to foster innovation and drive progress across the sector. A key focus will remain the deployment of FRMCS and ERTMS, essential for enhancing connectivity and interoperability. Expanding high-speed rail connections between Europe’s capitals will also be a priority to foster greater integration across the European network. And of course, renewing and modernizing our networks to meet the challenges of the day, amongst which I would like to mention adaptation to climate change and Europe’s security.”
