Later this year station inspectors will receive a possibility to use a modern simulator of railway traffic control and connectivity devices. It is another effect of the work of the PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., which will improve safety on railways.
– Simulator and trainings are parts of the program improving the safety of the Polish railways, which has been being implemented consequently since 2012. It includes more than 200 activities of the Polish infrastructure manager in terms of investment as well as organisational, technical and labour issues. They are, for instance: modernisation of infrastructure, new control devices, improvement of procedures related to train traffic and very important vocational trainings of employees – says Andrzej Pawlowski, Deputy CEO of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.
The simulator of traffic control and communication devices is the first equipment of this kind in Poland. It was designed on the basis of the existing local railway traffic control centre in Minsk Mazowiecki. It has three places for trainees and one for an instructor. Real situations on tracks and the way of action of operational control devices are projected on several screens. During training employees will react to over 40 situations that they may meet when on duty, including the lack of power supply, a torn train set, a fault of the train, a wrong track choice made by an engine driver. The simulator enables creating variants, e.g.: each trainee operates at a different station or several trainees work together at one station, what requires cooperation, as in reality.
The simulator will be used in October. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. plans that over 8600 people will undergo the training.
