Within this difficult economic context, EIM believes that standardisation is a key factor to enable the rapid deployment of innovative solutions while ensuring cost savings. European standards will ensure the interoperability of railway components in critical domains, such as ERTMS and other automated train operations. The EU rail will only benefit if there are interoperable products with open, standardised interfaces available on the market.

EIM fully supports the sector and European Commission’s initiatives aiming to promote European standards in the railway domain that set technical specifications for open interfaces of both on board units and trackside components.
