Today, the CEOs of EIM welcome the Irish rail infrastructure manager Irish Rail as a full member of EIM. With 4685 employees, Irish Rail operates 2125km of tracks
The CEOs of EIM formally approved the work achieved by EIM in 2023 and defined the work programme for the association in the second half of 2024. In addition, they agreed on the political priorities for the next five years within the context of the next EU Commission and Parliament such as the European rail capacity and traffic management, funding and finance, security and cybersecurity, digitalisation and innovation.
The President of EIM, María Luisa Domínguez González, states: “At the eve of a new EU mandate 2024-2029, the European rail infrastructure managers are ready to contribute to a more competitive, energy-efficient and innovative European market. A fully fledged rail network helps to connect all parts of Europe for the current generation and those to come. In this context, I am delighted to welcome Irish Rail as a full member of EIM, joining our collaborative approach.”
The Executive Director of EIM, Monika Heiming, complements: “This decade is crucial for delivering a European rail network in line with the political priorities of the EU. This requires a balanced approach between regulation, finance and investments. The upcoming reforms of the EU budget can become an important lever in this regard. EIM is looking forward to work with the next EU to achieve this objective.”
