EIM, together with AERRL, ALLRAIL, CER, CT4EU, ERFA, UIP, UITP, UIRR, and UNIFE, welcomes the European Commission’s proposal to continue the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) as part of the EU Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2028–2034, published on 16 July 2025. EIM emphasizes the critical importance of securing adequate funding for the deployment of interoperable systems across Europe (including ERTMS), as well as for the development of an efficient and sustainable European rail network. All major rail sector associations jointly call on Member States and the European Parliament to provide unwavering support for the CEF Transport programme, uphold its level of ambition, and take action to strengthen its capacity for the timely completion of the TEN-T network.
