Technology has continued to evolve, the French population has increased by 20 million and today 2 billion passengers are transported each year by rail.

The infrastructure of the rail network has obviously well-developed and is constantly adapting to the increase in passenger and freight traffic.

The evolution of the French rail infrastructure is absolutely fundamental to cope with the societal changes. To this purpose, SNCF Réseau is developing a high performance rail network fully integrated with the European rail network and has already mobilized the energies of national and local actors and stakeholders  and financial means to respond to this challenge.  

The SNCF Réseau high performance rail network is an ambitious project to transform and modernize the French rail network, to increase its capacity, reliability and safety.
